National Eating Disorders Association

Don’t know where to start? NEDA provides a number of educational tools, Blog Posts, News/Media updates, and ways to become involved in ED activism.

NEDA Sponsors the official National Eating Disorders Awareness Week which will take place February 27-March 5, 2023.

Project Heal

This organization is amazing! They provide a number of services including the Treatment Placement Program and Cash Assistance Program to help individuals who would not otherwise be able to afford treatment. They also have an Insurance Navigation Program to help you get the benefits you are entitled to with your healthcare plan. So many individuals are unfairly denied ED specific treatment (I have personally argued for insurance coverage for patients who had been previously denied because the insurers do not have training or understanding of what necessitates ED treatment).

Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association

MEDA has so many great resources and educational opportunities for Professionals. They have an annual MEDA Conference (which I am excited to be a presenter for in May 2023 in Boston, MA).

National Alliance for Eating Disorders

The National Alliance has my favorite tool for finding a clinician or treatment facility that specializes in Eating Disorder Treatment. They provide a number of FREE clinician-led Support Groups virtually or in-person in specific cities across the country. Louisiana has its own affiliate chapter, which I am proud to be a member of as their mission is to provide education and support!

National Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders

It really is hard to choose my favorite resource but this one is definitely sitting somewhere on the top of my list. NCEED provides so many great on-demand webinars for clinicians. I highly suggest sending this to your primary-care provider or any doctors you work with who may not have any information or training with Eating Disorders (which would be the majority of all healthcare providers).

National Association for Anorexia and Associated Disorders

ANAD has been around since 1976 and provides 11 peer-support led virtual groups for a diverse range of populations. LGBTQ+, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), Teens and Young Adults, and Older Adults as well as General Eating Disorder Support. They also have an abundance of resources including a number of Approach Guides for different aspects of EDs.
